a new year, a new me

If you guys didn't know, for the new year, I've made it my mission to be a better person. All around, name it, I'm working on it. I'll probably share most of my experiences here but most I'm going to keep to myself. So one of the big things I've been working on, is a healthier me! So I enlisted the help of a trainer and have been on a "diet." I don't want to call it a "diet", but I guess I have to, since I'm not out getting Chick-fil-A or starbucks every day. But since I've been on this journey for about a month now, I've already lost about 4lbs. and inches off my body. So I'm going to let you guys in on my secret to easy weight loss. No crazy gym time needed. And the "diet" is pretty simple too. So since I've had a cold for the past week or so, my "diet" routine will change starting tomorrow. I know that people don't have time or money to spend on getting into shape, but at least you can get healthy! And at the end of the day, that's pretty much what I'm doing, just getting healthier, but I get a added bonus of losing weight! Check back for exercise and food suggestions, I promise they will be easy!

a perfect day for wellies and coachella

Day 4 of this crazy so cal weather. of non-stop raining and tornado watch, thunder, lighting, o my! If I had wellies, like cute Burberry ones, I would totally wear them today. But I dont, since how often do you ever get to wear rain boots in sunny so cal? Totally not a typical day for a southern californian girl. Thankfully, other than going to meet my trainer, I've stayed indoors for most of the storms. But does anyone get the urge to run outside with an umbrella and start dancing in the rain and singing "singing in the rain?" maybe its just me. That has to be one of the things I want to do before I die. So I watched "The Buried Life" on MTV yesterday, and thought it was the greatest show, ever (at least on MTV, home of "Jersey Shore"). For everything they mark off their list of "Things to do before i die," they help a random stranger with something off their list. It really gets you thinking about everything in your life and makes you want to make difference in the world. Definitely take a peak at the show, you won't be disappointed.
On a musical note, the coachella 2010 line up was announced today. And man o man, its going to be crazy.

coffee dates and sushi plates

This marks the second night in a row where I had sushi. I'm a little obsessed, as most people who know me well will know. But they were belated birthday dinners from friends, which is always so great and I'm always beyond grateful I have the bestest friends in the world! With some of my favorite persons in the world. This past week has been very difficult and has been testing me. Dealing with add and drop, wait lists, its been beyond stressful. But like my friend said, "positive thought!" she and I have been thinking nothing but positive thoughts, along with prayers to be answered. By the grace of God, I'm sure everything will be taken care of!
This was also day 2 of waking up before the sun came out to play, to attend my personal training session. It was beyond a struggle waking up at 4:45 a.m. to go see my trainer. But since I got up earlier, it gave me a chance to grab a bite to eat, watching a little morning news, and get my lemon water ready in my klean kanteen! Go green! Don't get me started on saving mother earth, that's a whole other post. :) I rushed myself over there and got there on time, and it was good to hear that I'm getting ahead of the game. Which makes me so happy!
I also got to see my dear friend, and it was so good to sit under the sun in january, coffee in hand and be able to catch up on life. One of my favorite things to do in life. Didn't think I was going to be able to do that in january.

lifeline

My blackberry was not acting it's self today. I had a frozen phone for 5 minutes today, but it happened twice, and I thought my world was coming to an end. But on a brighter note, well, not really. Today was a brutal day. woke up at 5 a.m. to meet my trainer, and because I was 5 minutes late, she kicked my ass. i felt like I was on a episode of "Biggest Loser" which started again today by the way. I love that show! But doing drills at 5:30 in the morning, in the dark was pretty bad. Then had to hit the cardio for an additional 30 minutes. And all of this was done before the sun came up. The saddest part of this was that I couldn't remember the last time I woke up to see the sunrise. But I highly recommend getting a personal trainer because it really does work. I have so far lost 2 lbs. But in my house I have been given the nickname "Food Nazi" because I'm pretty much controlling all foods that come into my house. Nothing but healthy food at my house, we have even cut out the diet sodas. Everyone is dying, but I'm purely making their lives healthier!
On a side note, I've decided to take up photography. I need a new hobby, it used to be singing and dancing and shopping, but I've grown up and now need a new one. So photography is the best for me since my dad has all the gadgets and tools. Now I'm just looking into a new camera! Which has to be the best part of taking up a hobby, buying all the stuff you need with taking up a new hobby. I have fallen in love with the panasonic gf-1. But the olympus pen, comes in at a close second. Totally vintage looking and totally cute, and according to my dad, totally light and takes great photos! (I usually only care about the first two, but my dad said that I need to start caring about the specs too)

a fresh start to a new decade

It freaks me out to know that we have officially started a new decade. 2010. That's even strange to type and write out. So my start of the new year began with a trip to century city to visit the annenberg space for photography. It made me realized how great photos can be, it really preserves a moment in time. Then came back home and got ready to go out for NYE with neighbor and bff heather. We trotted over to downtown fullerton to say hello to 2010. January 1, was spent eating traditional korean dishes for the new year and hanging out with my family. The following day heather and I made our way out to santa monica to go shopping and be a local tourist for the day. We found great deal and spent the day in our sunglasses since it was a sunny 75 degrees in sunny so cal.
Last year i stopped making new years resolutions since I always broke them or never accomplished my goals. But i decided that this year, I was going to start making them again.
